The annual camp for kids from 4 to 14 was held at the Parkview High School soccer facilities this week, running from Monday thru Wednesday. The enthusiasm always runs high at this event as both the kids and the players get actively involved at bonding with their Parkview heros (tell me who’s having more fun in the photo above, of Jason Florez with two campers!). With the high school players out to help develop the kids who may ultimately fill their shoes, its great to see the growth. My first visit last year saw an impressive group of campers that has grown further, hitting 83 this year including a large group of middle school boys and girls who are preparing for their club and league seasons.
I also got to enjoy seeing the growing group of alumni who are returning for the Alumni game that was played following Camp on Wednesday. With a group of local boys like Love, Krudwig, Salas, Carver, McKay, Florez and more it means the current players are relegated to subbing on as the heat, and aches and pains of a desk job, slowly takes its toll.
