This one’s been on the back burner since it came out at the beginning of the World Cup but things didn’t improve as the games progressed. This Time the Swede Turns Nasty is a great article about the conflict between Club & Country and revolves around the dispute between Sir Alex (I use that term loosely) and Sven-Goran over Wayne Rooney’s status during the World Cup. Sir Alex didn’t want his prized forward to play, fearing further injury to his foot. As we saw, that was the least of Mr. Rooney’s problems.
