Waynesville Tigers Coach Josh Scott

One of the teams participating in the Team Camp at Missouri State this past week was the Waynesville Tigers. There was a good group of boys, three of whom earned spots on the All-Star squads I featured (midfielder Mike Burkett, forward Aaron Kelly and GK Aaron Walker). It also included new Boys & Girls Head Coach, Joshua Scott, most recently an assistant & JV Coach for Mike Howard at Rolla High School.

It was good to see Josh out with the squad, preparing for the upcoming season. The community has been watching as well, with a couple of nice features in the Waynesville Daily Guide earlier this summer.

Looking at the girls squad the article pointed to single-season school record in victories with an 18-6 record. He knows that all of the starters from that squad are returning, the bulk of which are juniors-to-be. During the camp there were 29 Lady Tigers in attendance.

While for the boys squad, the article pointed to the fact that theTigers tied a school-record in victories in 2005 when they finished with a 14-12 record. With a core of returning players, including the All-Stars mentioned above, the Tigers hope to compete at an even higher level. With 36 players who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2006-07 school year turning out, Coach Scott is seeing positive signs.
