St. Louis had an explosion of semipro teams this summer, adding the St. Louis Lions (PDL) as well as two women’s teams, one from the W-League and one from the WPSL (Women’s Pro Soccer League). The WPSL representative is River Cities FC which has gone 7-0-2 in their inaugural season. That has earned them first place in the Midwest Division. Missouri State was represented by Kate Hercules, MVC Defender of the Year last year and graduate of perennial state champions St. Teresa’s Academy (KC). That’s Kate in white challenging for the high ball on a set piece against Drake last year.
Kate played in eight of the nine games and has the opportunity to play in three more potentially. River Cities FC will host a Quarterfinal match against the winner of the South Division, Tampa Bay Elite. The game is scheduled for Saturday July 22nd at 8:00 at CBC High School in Chesterfield. Youth players who wear their respective club jersey or t-shirt will get in for free, $5 for adults.
The winner of the match will go to the Final Four to be held in Salt Lake City, UT
