For everyone who has been enjoying the reports the US Women’s team captain Julie Foudy has been providing during the World Cup coverage, McKenzie Lesh of JB Marine Springfield U10’s has an even better story. She has just returned from Chicago where she participated in the Youth training Camp that Julie Foudy and US Women’s teammate Carla Overbeck provided last weekend.
The “Julie Foudy World Cup” was on the last day and the girls were assigned teams to be during the World Cup. They had to come up with appropiate dress. McKenzie’s team all wore orange and blue with matching bandanas that read “Holland” which were made by her coach. The camp was quite colorful with St. George’s cross painted on the faces of the English team and the Mexican team carrying a pinata in uniform. McKenzie’s Dutch team lost in the finals to Spain. (you heard it here 1st folks!)
According to her parents Diana & Steven, McKenzie was part of a group of 220 campers that came from as far away as Dallas and Nashville. What a great trip that must have been. There are a couple of additional photos you can see by clicking on the one above, showing McKenzie with Julie Foudy and Carla Overbeck. Thanks for sharing with us McKenzie!

Unfortuantely we didn’t hear it at SGFsoccer first. Apparently Nostradamus predicted that Spain would win the World Cup.
