Coach Tom Davidson, Kickapoo Chiefs

I asked Coach Davidson if he’d like to share his thoughts on the season, reaching the Final 8 this year, with the readers. He was kind enough to agree and offer the following thoughts and sentiments.

I would first like to thank all our fans, administration, parents and coaches for a very memorable season. You all have made it wonderful for our girls and especially me. You’re all the best, and as always it has been an honor to be your coach.

2006 started with injuries, continued with injuries and in the end left us all wondering what it would have been like to be at full strength all season. This was a very special group of players for us all to watch. Through all the adversity they performed like champions right up until our final whistle. Lafayette was a good team that is very well coached, and I don’t think any of us were ashamed to have been beaten by them. We struggled with the heat and never got into a rhythm in this game.

As for this awesome group of seniors. Hilary Dorland, Sam Lucas, Paige Puryear, Alaina Williams, Jackie Sabel, Jamie Sabel, Karissa Nedoma, Afton Weimer, and Rachel Lavoy. You will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for the most productive two years in our history, these seniors end their run with a record of 44-10-1.

I hope that our underclassmen sat and observed the incredible 3 D’s (Desire, Determination, Dedication) these seniors always portrayed.

I would also like to thank my unbelievable coaching staff, Phil Hodge and Mike Hines. For their friendship, knowledge, and support for me and our program. Without you guys this all would not have been possible. You were both phenomenal.

Thanks for your coverage Ole, we really due appreciate all you do.

Good luck seniors as you head to college, make us all proud as you did at KHS.

Your Coach always—–Coach Davidson

I first got a glimpse at this girls in 2004. It’s been a treat to follow their development and I have to echo the question of what if… The season hasn’t ended however. Coach Davidson, based upon the performance of his group of girls, has been asked to work the sidelines at the Southwest Soccer All-Star game on June 22nd. He’ll be back from a well deserved vacation just in time to lend his talents to another top notch group, including Rachel Lavoy. Be certain to join us!
