The Rolla Bulldogs moved into the District Final for the 10th time in eleven seasons with their 5-0 win over the Lebanon Yellowjackets Tuesday evening at Cooper Soccer Complex. The Bulldogs tested the Lebanon keeper early, with a shot that required her to go horizontal for the save in the 2nd minute. Combined with a swarming defense, well aware of the weapons that Rolla would bring to bear, the Yellowjackets worked hard to keep the Bulldogs from scoring. It was senior captain Sophie Cox that broke the deadlock when she was able to make a run from midfield to the top of the box before being challenged. With a quick cut she split the defense and slid the ball to the far post shortly before hitting the dirt as the goalkeeper and defender collided with her after the shot.
Rolla got two more goals in the first half, both from senior forward Autumn McEachern including the goal pictured above. Autumn finished the game with a hat trick. Also scoring was Kelsey McFarland, with assists credited to Sophie Cox and Ashley Kerr.
The Bulldogs will face the Glendale Falcons on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm at Cooper Soccer Complex. They enter the game with a record of 19-1-3 and hopes of reaching the State Tournament the first weekend in June.
