Behind two goals from sophomore midfielder Megan Garrad (pictured above in red with Shanna Neeley) the Glendale Falcons defeated the Waynesville Tigers 3-1 on Tuesday.
The Falcons opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the match when senior forward Megan McElroy, after collecting a diagonal ball, fought off her defender and was able to move into the Tigers box. Drawing the keeper out, McElroy’s cross found sophomore Lou Opfer unmarked in front of the goal where she buried the ball in the roof of the net. The Tigers fought back, tightening their defense and attacking down the flanks. They tied the game early in the second half when they pounced on a mistake in the back.
The Falcon’s slowly turned up the heat however and finally broke through for the game winner in the 70th minute. Garrad’s goal came when she was able to gather a loose ball inside that box and with a quick turn, break past the defense. Her shot to the far post was true as the keeper attempted to cut off the angle. She got an insurance goal five minutes later when she moved from the left to the right just outside the box and unleashed a hard shot that once again eluded the keeper.
The Falcon’s will face the Rolla Bulldogs in a rematch of last years District title game.

That Waynesville player in the picture is Shanna Neeley (as opposed to Sasha).
I’m going to have to quit doing this stuff after midnight. Unless they have pills for dyslexia
