A shout out to the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs who traveled to Jefferson City Wednesday evening and earned a hard fought win. Kickapoo (18-6) got the game winner eight minutes into the second half, scoring from outside the box. From that area, I’m guessing Afton Weimer. The Jeff City News Tribune also describes several fine saves from the keeper (Jessica McCutcheon). Very nice ladies.
Update from a Chief’s fan – Our goal came from Karissa Nedoma on a set piece from about 25 yards. Beautiful goal! One of our best performances of the year, maybe this will get us ready for Districts. Jefferson City is ranked tenth in State!

Central and West Plains squared off as well. The Zizzer’s continued their scoring run in shutting out the Bulldogs. Audi Morrison got the game winner in the sixth minute, assisted by Val Jackson. Jessica Brixey got two, Val Jackson got two and Margaret Grisham got two. Assists to Brixey, Jackson (3 total) and Tiffany Vincent.

Camdenton traveled to Jefferson City as well to face the Jefferson City Helias Crusaders. These two teams will meet Monday in the first round of the District 10 playoffs (Camdenton is #6, Helias #3) so Wednesday night’s game offered both teams an opportunity to do some scourting. For Helias, Jessica Champlain scored the lone goal when she scored off her own rebound in the first minute of the second half. For the Lakers, the game was a strong improvement over their 3-0 loss in the first round of last year’s distirct tournament and a difficult lesson in playing hard for 80 minutes.

The Nixa Marshfield game was rained out. Nixa was only able to make up 2 out of six rain outs this year. I’m sure it was a simular situation for other teams as well.
