Tuesday’s Game Reports

In what should certainly be a wake up call for the Kickapoo Chiefs, the Joplin Eagles came to Springfield and sent notice they can not be ignored. I was unable to attend any games this evening but this score from the Glendale Soccer site certainly made me sit up and notice.
Joplin 2, at Glendale 0

The report I got indicated that with Anne Prenger’s return to the field following Monday’s sickness (and West Plains near upset), the Fightin’ Irish were in fighting form and established themselves against the athletic Tigers early.

The Eagles faced off against their small school rivals, the Willard Tigers, and each accomplished positive steps in advance of District play. Nixa scored and won when expected (#3 seed in District 12) while the Tigers scored against a tough rival. More details in the comments.

    Nixa 6, Willard 2.

It was the very physical game that we’ve come to expect with these 2 teams. The Nixa defense played a really tight game and in the end Nixa’s midfielders led by Jessie Yach really opened up some scoring opportunities. Forward Sarah Goble, who has been hampered by knee problems most of the season, was back in fine form with 4 goals. In all I think I saw 5 Nixa girls leave the field with bags of ice attached to their bodies.
