Rolla Bulldogs Take Quincy Tournament

Quincy Notre Dame Tourney Champions

The Rolla Lady Bulldogs were in Quincy, Illinois, over the weekend to take part in the Quincy Notre Dame Raider’s annual tournament. The trip served as a strong warm up for the looming District and State campaign the Bulldogs have been focused on since practice began February 27th. Rolla won the tournament, for the first time ever, including a shutout win over the host Raider’s, who lost their own tournament for the first time since 1996.

Game results
Rolla 2, Quincy Notre Dame (IL) 0
Rolla 2, Columbia Rock Bridge 1 (Top 20 Class 2 MO rankings)
Rolla 6, Galesburg (IL) 0

Rolla is now 16-1-3 on the season and should earn the first seed in the District 11 playoffs, which I expect to see later today. The Glendale Falcons host this years tournament which will begin play on Monday May 15th. They face Jefferson City Helias on Tuesday at home, Hillcrest on Wednesday in Springfieldl and Union High School at home on Thursday.

Quincy Notre Dame Raiders lost in the Illinois Sectionals last year to cross town rivals Quincy. The squad is currently 7-2-4 going into the tournament, with wins over Jefferson City Helias (4-1 on March 28th), current #10 Jefferson City Jays (3-0 April 15th) and a 1-1 tie against Top 20 squad Columbia Rock Bridge April 25th to go with their tournament loss to the Rolla.
