No, I’m not going to Mexico but if you are a boy in the U13/U14 age bracket, you could! The Springfield Sister Cities Association, in conjunction with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and Lake Country Soccer, are sponsoring a Select Boys team for a visit to Tlaquepaque, Mexico. The trip will be June 28th to July 3rd and will feature four soccer games and cultural activities. The games are being coordinated with Club Atlas, a top Mexican League team.
There is an approximate cost of $800 per Youth participant. According to the interview on KSFX27 and KOLR10 Tuesday night, if you missed the Informational meeting on Monday or last nights tryouts, there is still another chance on Sunday evening. Lake Country Soccer, 7:30 pm, Sunday May 7th. If you have questions you can contact Bryan Murray who is responsible for Player Development at Lake Country Soccer. The number is 862-3211.
The photo above is from a set of 67 photos I took at the games that were played last summer when Tlaquepaque brought a team of U12 boys to Springfield for a series of games. Is that you Nate?
