In a game that was rescheduled once already due to rain, West Plains hosted Poplar Bluff on Wednesday in a game that was won by Poplar Bluff 3-1.
Poplar Bluff scored first in the 3rd minute on a shot that the keeper got a hand on but was unable to stop. The Zizzer’s tied the game in the 14th minute with a sublime goal. Michelle Esterle intercepted a pass in the center of the field and had a 2 on 1 with Jessica Brixey. Michelle laid the ball of to Jessica and she took it in and put it past the keeper. Jessica is pictured above earlier this season against Kickapoo.
Poplar Bluff took the lead again for good in the 48th minute, catching the defense flat when a ball bounced through and they finished from 12 yards out. After several good scoring chances for West Plains, Poplar Bluff established the final difference with a shot from 10 yards
The goal for Jessica Brixey of the West Plains Zizzers ties the school record for goals in a season with 16. The ladies will next play on Monday at Glendale (rescheduled from April 6) at Cooper # 1. Hmm, I wonder what my calendar looks like.
