Lady Bulldogs Spring Break Journal

Rolla Bulldgos at Northern Vance (NC)

Sunday, March 26

We left Rolla High School at 7:00 a.m. this morning heading for Charleston, West Virginia (Approximately a 10 hour bus ride). We did a lot of sleeping early on, as we were tired from our weekend tournament. Unfortunately for us, when we awoke from our naps, we found that a fuse for the T.V. had blown, so we could not watch any of our many DVDs (the planned activity for the trip). To pass the time, we played hangman, did handstands in the aisle, played various group games, and used up a lot of film. We arrived at our destination at about 8:30 p.m., ate dinner, and turned lights out at 11:00 p.m.

Monday, March 27

Once again it was a bright and early wake up as we loaded the bus at 9:00 a.m. and headed for our final destination: Henderson, North Carolina (50 miles North of Raleigh/Durham area). Again, we had no T.V., so there was a lot of sleeping and odd activities, including locking teammates in the bathroom and putting smaller children in the overhead storage area. We arrived in Henderson at approximately 4:00 p.m., moved into our rooms, and walked across the street to some local stores to pass time before our game.

At 6:00 p.m. we headed to Northern Vance High School, about 3 miles from our hotel in Henderson. The game started at 7:00 p.m. Although the game itself was not as interesting as we had hoped, a few aspects of it surprised me. There were three referees on the field, all equipped with a whistle and yellow and red cards, unlike in Missouri where there is one main ref and two sideline refs for assistance. Also, the clock counted up to 80 minutes (like professional clocks), while we are used to it counting down from 40 each half. The score of the game ended up 7-0 and everyone got plenty of playing time.

Thanks to Rachel Moore for the update. Rachel was ‘elected’ by her teammates to provide these updates.massage parlour in dubai

US Players Part of Historic EPL Promotion

This story comes by way of ESPN Soccernet via the Associated Press:

LEICESTER, England — Reading’s 135-year wait is over.

Reading clinched promotion to the Premier League with a 1-1 draw at Leicester in the League Championship on Saturday. The club was founded in 1871, but next season will be its first in the top flight of English soccer.

“We had a tremendous year,” manager Steve Coppell said. “It’s been dreamlike in many ways.”

With Leicester leading 1-0 on Iain Hume’s 38th-minute goal, Kevin Doyle tied it in the 85th. The goal meant promotion for the club that includes American midfielder Bobby Convey and countryman Marcus Hahnemann in goal.

Reading has 92 points, with Sheffield United at 78 with five games to play. Watford and Leeds have 72 points. Although Reading has not clinched first place, it clinched one of the two top spots.

The top two teams get promoted automatically to the Premier League. The next four teams have a playoff for the other promotion spot.

The Royals have gone from drawing 10,000 fans to sellout crowds of 24,000 this season.

Last year, Reading was leading the league but went 11 games without a win and missed the playoffs.

Parkview Opens Against Nixa

Nixa at Parkview

I checked out the Parkview Lady Viking’s home opener this afternoon at their pitch just west of JFK Stadium. The Nixa Lady Eagles were visiting, on the heels of their 0-5 loss to Catholic on Friday. The Eagles got on the board 10 minutes into the game on a goal by senior Bailey Chandler that fooled the keeper, assisted by Brittany Cobb. Two more goals in the half, by Jessie Yach and Stephanie Allen, gave the Eagles a 3-0 advantage. I got to the game in the 60th minute when the differential had grown to 5-0 on goals by Chandler and Yach in the second half. By then the Vikings had shaken off the rust of coming off of Spring Break and the girls, as evidenced by the photo above of freshman Sydney Nelson being held off by senior Brittany Cobb, tested the Nixa defense over the final 20 minutes.

Parkview will host Central on Thursday while Nixa visits Glendale on Friday. The Parkview Varsity squad will also take part in the Neosho Girls Tourney this weekend while both squad’s JV girls will participate in the Ozark HS JV Tourney. girls for sex in dubai
