Brian McBride

There’s a big game for the US coming up tomorrow (Wednesday) when they face Germany in a friendly, on German soil. A long time favorite player, Brian McBride, will be playing as he gets to take a break from his duties with Fulham in the English Premier League along with his other foreign-based compatriots. There are several excellent articles to point you to in advance of the game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2 beginning at 1:30 pm.

ESPN Soccernet looks at Germany’s travails this year as they prepare to host World Cup 2006. And then there’s Brian, who was featured in the Sunday Times which is pretty impressive feat (hat tip to Du Nord) and finally, in case you missed it, the result of Fulham’s match against Chelsea which is referenced in the article about Brian.

Unless something has changed from the original roster, McBride will not be playing in Germany, nor will any of the US’s other premiership-based players.

Well that sucks. Thanks for the link DF and keeping the readers properly updated. BTW, are you going to the Red Bull NY match?

It’s not great but the way I see it we know what Brian can do, he’s a lock to make the roster and probably also to start, and at this point he needs all the rest he can get from a tough but successful season for Fulham.

As for the RBNY game, I wish I could go but I now live in Chicago so it’s a lot harder to get to DCU games. Should be a great turnout though.
