Gunners Lose to Boro?

Well folks, the gaunlet has been thrown down by Danny Boy, aka Knight of the Garter (I can’t make this stuff up folks, it’s his email address!). This is only one of the comments he left on Friday. If you’d like to share your thoughts with him personally, well then read on :)

Catch the Gunners (Arsenal FC) getting beaten to a pulp on Saturday 14th by the Mighty Boro (Middlesbrough FC) at 2.00pm on Fox Soccer Channel. Personally, I’ll be harassing the staff at the Fox and Hounds to change at least one of the screens over to FSC.

Update - here’s an interview with Thierry Henry after the game

I definetly think he got that confused, catch the Gunners beat the Mighty Boro to a pulp, thats how it goes, and that was how it did go, 7-0, Thierry Henry got a hat trick, that equals him with Cliff Bastin’s league record of 150 goals in the Prem., and Ashley Cole came bak from almost three months on the inujured list, that should help them when most of their back line returns, either from injury or from playing in the African Nations Cup

Up front let me tell you all that I’m a Spurs (Tottenham Hotspur) fan and it really makes me sort of sick to my stomach to see “they who shall not be mentioned” beat any team…but 7-0 is in the vernacular “taking the (insert 4 letter word beginning with p)”. However, that in my estimation is the sort of dirty trick “they who shall not be mentioned” pull. Up until about 15 years ago “they who shall not be mentioned” were renowned for 1-0 boring victories and certainly throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s were the most despised team in England because of the type of football they played. Am I living in the past? I certainly hope not…for instance I have a sneaking hope that England will win the World Cup this year…there might be one England player from “they who shall not be mentioned”…the traitor Sol Campbell…I expect Ashley Cole to move on sooner rather than later. For those of you that don’t know me I’m not usually this vitriolic…but 7-0…disgusting! Expecting flames!

Okay so it’s been a week and I’ve just about finished eating my hat.

Watched the game with a Man Utd friend of mine and although he despises the Arsenal he almost fell of his stool laughing at my looks of dejection as every goal rolled in.

Gotta give it to the Gunners, they outclassed us everywhere on the pitch and more than made up for their poor performance earlier in the season when we beat them 1-0. McClaren was foolish to play so many youngsters against a side of Arsenal’s caliber.

Maybe next time I’ll think before I start making my loud-mouthed predictions………Ok maybe not.
