In semifinal action at the Missouri State soccer tournament Friday evening, the Cassville Wildcats took #1 state-ranked Priory to the limit, losing 0 – 1 on an own goal scored in the 41st minute in their Class 2 game.
For the Class 1 Greenwood Bluejays, a goal scored by Sam Chaffin early in the 2nd half (check out that scoreboard above) was not enough as the 3-time defending state Champion Whitfield team tied the game in the 73rd minute and won early in the fourth overtime period.
The Springfield Soccer teams came prepared, were disciplined and took the game to their opponents. I am proud to be able to cover these boys and their teams and I am excited about what is to come.

I’d be interested in learning more about this Cassville program. Maybe someone could write a piece about their short and successful history. I guarantee they weren’t even on St Louis’ radar.
