By finishing their season with a 4 – 0 shutout of the Northwest Missouri Bearcats, the Missouri Southern Lions finished their finest season in the history of the program with a second place tie in the MIAA, the most wins in program history and likely the stingiest defense in the MIAA. But for a couple of upsets, including earlier in the season at Northwest Missouri where the Lions lost 0 – 1, the ladies came close to knocking Truman State from their pedestal, otherwise known as the only Conference Champion the MIAA has known (since 1999 when the women’s soccer program began).
The shutout was preserved when freshman Ashley Turner (Columbia Hickman 2005) pulled a ball off the line (see above) on a corner kick early in the second half when the outcome was still in doubt. More information can be found on the Lady Lion’s site.
