The Missouri State Lady Bears hosted Oral Roberts last night and were gracious hosts, giving up what would be the game winning goal in the ninth minute and a second one a minute into the second half. The goals held up despite a significant advantage by the Lady Bears in time of possession and shots on goal. It was an inauspicious end to what has been a record-tying result in the Missouri Valley for the Bears this year.
It was also Senior night when Dorothy Brown (Ozark HS 2002) and Jackie Hood were recognized for their contributions. That led to some soul-searching following the game as they now begin preparations for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. As the #3 seeded team, the Bears will host #6 Evansville on Sunday at 1pm.
The Bears beat Evansville 3 – 0 back on October 2nd in the midst of a nine game unbeaten string that culminated in their match last weekend against St. Louis University when they won 1-0. That is the team I expect to see on Sunday. The weather forecast looks favorable and I’d highly recommend you come see this team, for this year and to prepare you for what they can become.
