Lot’s to see and enjoy this weekend folks. You get to pick your poison.

Be prepared for lots of extra traffic in area restaurants as Lake Country is hosting the 2oth Annual Thompson Cadillac Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. There are 120 teams from five states participating with girls teams ranging from U9 up to U19. That will include all three local clubs with Springfield SC entering their U16 and U18 girls, JB Marine SC-Springfield has 7 teams in the Fall Classic. U9, 10, 13, 14, 17, 18 girls and U10 boys.could have as many as five teams from U11 to U18 (Christine or Lindsay, can you confirm for me?) and Mamba’s have their U16 girls.

On the boys side, it will include teams from U9 to U14. I didn’t have time to sort out the details on how many local teams are participating so I’ll dig into the results on Sunday when I return and the final matches are being played. High School boys will see the Lebanon Invitational kick off on Friday afternoon, continuing through Saturday. There are six teams involved with Lebanon, Central & Fulton competing in the Gold Bracket while Ozark, Parkview & Waynesville will face off in the Black Bracket. The winner of each bracket will face off in the final on Saturday afternoon. Fulton came to town for the Parkview Tournament earlier this year and lost 2-4 to the hosts in the Final. There’s a chance for a rematch in this tournament but Central and Waynesville both should be thinking about being there as well.

On the college front, both local schools return for home games. The Drury Panthers should have a good weekend with a pair of double headers on Friday and Saturday. Kentucky Wesleyan will be here Friday followed by the University of Southern Indiana on Sunday. The games Friday will be at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm and 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm on Sunday.

The Missouri State Bears have a split schedule. The Ladies will host Illinois State on Friday evening at 7:00 pm in an MVC match and then return on Sunday for another MVC match, this time against Drake at 1:00 pm. Remember that parking may still be at a premium for the game Sunday as the Lake Country tournament wraps up.

The men return from their month long road trip to host Vanderbilt on Saturday night in a game that already seen large pregame ticket purchases. There is a KC Club that has a group of alum that now play for Vandy and they will be here for the Lake Country tournament. There will also be a group of visiting Russian businessmen taking in the game as part of their business trip. The way I see it, it’s up to us to get out there for the 7:00 pm game and make sure all these folks know that our nationally ranked Bears are going to hand it to the Commodores. Agreed?
