My buddy the Ranger’s fan (front left) and his wife thought they’d remind me of what it used to be like. This is from a team he and I put together and played in on Monday nights at the Odeum in Villa Park (just south of O’Hare Airport). There’s a trophy I’d forgotten about, he has it on his mantle a few blocks from the Fire’s current home, Soldier Field. I was 37 at the time, ten years older then anyone else on the team, and beginning to fight a losing battle my knees would eventually win. We had players from Morocco, Lebanon, Scotland, England and Brazil on that team. For those of you battling the math, I’m 50 today.
