Rolla defeated Kickapoo in the fourth OT period this evening, 2-1. Both goals came on set plays, the first by Sophie Cox early in the first half, the second with less then five minutes remaining by Rebecca Blum in a goal mouth scramble. Kickapoo’s goal was scored by freshman Katy McLain, also on a set play late in regulation. Mark Schiefelbein of the News-Leader has a great shot of the winning goal on the News-Leader site already!
From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rolla will be facing Nerinx Hall on Saturday in Columbia following the Marker’s 4-0 win over the Jefferson City Jays.
Finally, the Catholic Fightin’ Irish defeated Union for the second year in a row and will face the Timberland Wolves (of Wentzville) in the Quarterfinal match at Jefferson City on Saturday.
On the Middle School front, Pershing beat Catholic on Penalty Kicks after a 1-1 tie in regulation. This matches the result from two years ago. For more details, see the Pershing site.
I have plenty of video from the game and I’ll create a highlight video for your enjoyment but it will have to wait until Thursday. I’ve been neglecting my paying job I’m afraid. In the meantime, check out the photos from the game (more info below) I’ll provide an update on the Catholic match against Union as soon as I get it as well as the opponents Rolla & Catholic will be facing in their Quarterfinal matches on Saturday. Look for all of this information over the coming few days.
