News-Leader coverage

April 29, 2005 by Ole

The Springfield News-Leader and HS beat writer Kyle Neddenriep provide coverage for Catholic’s remarkable run through the Capital City Classic last weekend when they knocked off #11 ranked Rolla (Class II) enroute to the Tourney championship. Coach Timson offers some comments on the weekend and several of the players earn recognition as part of a balanced scoring attack. Alicia Tonjuk has 14, Shannon FitzGerald and Tara Bailes have 11 and Elle Holtman 10. If you recall from my earlier coverage of the opening match against Rolla and the followup after the weekend results had been tallied, the winning goal in the three games came from three of the four players listed. That is balance!

Finally, Jenny Melton of Camdenton was recognized in the Athletes of the Week column. Jenny scored four goals in the Lebanon Tournament last weekend and has scored at least one goal in each of the Lady Lakers last seven matches according to the report. Congratulations.mayfair dubai escorts
